Lagazuoi is in the Fanes Group of the Dolomites. The Big Lagazuoi is 2835 m high, the Small Lagazuoi 2778 m. The latter is accessible by a cable car; a little to the west is the Rifugio Lagazuoi. The massif is well known for its WWI tunnels. More than a hundred years ago, a huge tunnel system was built here by both the Italian and the Austro-Hungarian armies, with which the enemy forces kept each other in check. Some of these tunnels survived the war and are open to the public.
