The Savoy fort Su Pisu, also known as "Sa Guardia de Su Pisu" or "the castle", dominates from the top of a 60 meter hill. This military structure was built between 1813 and 1815. Its position was previously occupied by the Punic walls, which had partly demolished a nuraghe. At the time, the island of Sant'Antioco was constantly threatened by incursions from the Ottoman Empire, in particular from Tunis, from where ships full of Barbary corsairs left and plundered the poorly defended villages along the Sardinian coast.

"The Savoyard Fort of Su Pisu, also known as the Castle, is located at the highest point of the village of Sant'Antioco, on the so-called Mont'e Cresia, in a strategic position that has housed various constructions over the centuries The oldest structure consists of a multipass nuraghe tower, which was probably built in the 15th century BC. On the slope that leads down to the necropolis of Is Pirixeddus, traces of the nuraghe village were found next to the remains of the nuraghe. "
