In this wooded environment (the Diepe Straten between Ninove, to the southeast, and Denderhoutem, to the northeast) you will find all sorts of forest paths. It is wonderful to walk there.

The Diepe Straten area in Ninove and Denderhoutem comprises some remarkable (largely) hollow roads. The depth of the route of the actual hollow parts of these roads is related to their location and their use by humans.
Little is known about the age of these road routes. However, it is very likely that their age dates back at least to the founding of the Hof te Ruysbroeck in 1140 by the Saint Cornelius Abbey of Ninove.
