Loch an Eilein is an extraordinarily beautiful loch, reflecting the magnificent pines of the Rothiemurchus forest in which it lies. The ruin of an island castle makes it even more intriguing.

A pleasant winding path around the lake. Perfect for cycling on a gravel bike, and you only share it with hikers and other cyclists.

Some of the paths around the loch, particularly on the south side, are more towards the gravel bike than the pure road touring bike.
