Kintore loop in snow flurries New Years Day

Mostly tarmac and paths, a wee bit in woods. Original route turning right into woods blocked with fallen trees, new path hard to see but back 20m towards kintore.

Easy to navigate, path/track the whole way. In L Einoch is a gradual climb, barely noticeable until u do the return route and do it in half the time! The slight right on the way back from Einoch avoids a short steep climb, but is often muddy. Great views of the river but misses out on some fast downhill. Plenty parking space at L an Eilein and £2 all day 1 person and car. Bonus! Route came be completed quicker with less stops for photos. Highly recommended.

This routs has everything: mountain views, rivers, lochs, lochans, moorland, single track, forest track, road, and gravel track. And up till the last 7km i would have said it was suitable for all abilities. On return leg, when you get to Feshie Bridge I recommend going back into the woods on the right (where you would have arrived from on outward leg) and follow one of the many routes back to L an Eilein. Otherwise u have 5km on downward road which is fine, but then a large deer park has been built over the original path. This means a long push over tussock grass, an incredibly steep push up narrow path and then another 400m push along narrow track with a fence one side and trees the other-barely wide enough for handle bars. After that, easy going back round the loch. Also I had to detour up a bank and around a field at the top end of Feshie as the highland cows had calves. I will be doing this again, just not the last leg!

A bonnie sign posted route through woods. Trees close to track so no clear views. GPS drops out a couple times so be aware.

A flat, easy to follow out and back route, along the coast on a combination of prepared path and stoney single track. Great coffee and homemade cake at the half way point in Johnshaven before the return leg. If you enjoy lobster/crab, MacBays Lobster Shop at Johnshaven is the place for you!
