The church, known as "St. Peter's Church", is striking from the outside with its curved dome above the octagonal choir. This mid-18th century building faces the heavy west tower, the core of which is apparently of Romanesque origin. The entrance with round arches is preceded by a low hall with a stained glass window. It bathes the church with its Romanesque traces and rococo decorations in a contemporary light, without being in disharmony with the interior.

The founding date of the church has not been handed down, but due to the patronage of Peter and Paul it can be assumed that this could be an early, possibly Carolingian foundation.
The slate-covered west tower and the nave go back to a Romanesque building from the 12th/13th. century back.

St. Peter and Paul is the Roman Catholic parish church of the village of Ouren in the Belgian Eifel, which belongs to the municipality of Burg-Reuland in the German-speaking Community. It forms the core of the district of Peterskirchen on the left bank of the Our.
The church is an early Gothic building that also contains Romanesque style elements. The building consists of plastered rubble masonry made of Devonian slate. The entrance hall, bell tower, a single-nave nave and an octagonal chancel follow in a linear arrangement from west to east, with a sacristy attached in the north-east.
