This bridge spans over 3 water culverts. The Haune usually only uses 2 of these passages. The third passage is only used during high water. This old bridge has largely served its purpose for many years. Until the construction of the new reinforced concrete bridge, which now leads over the B27, the railway line and the Haune, the Haune had to be crossed on this old stone bridge. The crossing of the railway line was secured by a barrier system. Long queues of cars always formed in front of the barriers, which were often closed; after all, this railway line is a busy main line in a north-south direction.

It is a “classic arch bridge”, here in Burghaun with three arches.
