Venizelos Graves and Viewpoint

Graves of the Venizelos family - a famous political family. Behind it there is a Greek Orthodox church in the middle of a small park. The church has an inner courtyard with a garden and fountain. It is built in the Venetian style and is surrounded by a small forest. The cemetery is located above Chania and is very nice to walk along a circular path. The paths are gravel or laid out with large paving stones. The old trees and the stature of "Spyros Kayales", a Greek hero of the 1897 revolution, complete the picture. A great viewpoint of the city and harbor of Chania.

Memorial to the Cretan freedom fighter and later Greek Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos (Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος, 1864-1936) and his son. Great viewing platform above Chaniá. Two or three very nice restaurants with sunset views in the area.
