In addition to the main arm of the Nahe and its side arm, the Mühlenteich, a third body of water flows through the city: the Ellerbach. This flows through the historic new town. The row of houses at the confluence of the Ellerbach and the Nahe stands directly on the bank wall with their picturesque back. Due to lack of space, people in the Middle Ages even built on the city wall.
