"In the past, more spruce ..." could be said, if one talks about the tree species in the Lemgo town forest. They account for just over half of the tree population. However, the trend towards spruce only lasted until the 1980s. The oak celebrated its comeback and later the beech.Like many other forests, 'Friederike' hit the Lemgo town forest on 19 January. Especially the coniferous trees had too little grip on the soaked clay soils and were easy prey for the hurricane.
