Geological subsoil emerges on the exposed slopes (so-called "bad lands") in bright red, gray and green tones. Dolomites and sandstone banks are integrated into the clays, silts and marls. The 100 m thick series of rocks was created by the constant alternation of floods and dryfalls under the desert climate 215-210 million years ago (Middle Keuper).
