At the fork of the Roisdorfer Donnerstein with the Oberdorfer Weg, there is – almost like on a traffic island – the tree and the wayside cross standing in front of it. The small sacral monument visible here is only a few decades old and therefore comparatively new, but it stands in a much longer tradition of a predecessor – also erected at this prominent position. When the procession passes through the Oberdorf on the occasion of the Corpus Christi festival, one of the blessing altars is set up here by the neighborhood.

"You are king and reign from the cross," it says at one point in the Stations of the Cross meditation, which His Holiness Pope Leo XIV prayed on Good Friday 2026 in the Roman Colosseum: "You do not make use of the apparent power of armies, but of the apparent powerlessness of love, which allows itself to be nailed to the cross. You are king, and your cross becomes the axis around which history and the entire universe revolve, so that they do not crash into the hell of the inability to love."
