Sluis van Neerharen is one of the most beautiful in the area

In Neerharen, near Lanaken, you will come across a beautifully maintained small lock along the walking and cycling route. This lock was built between 1930 and 1934. In the summer months, the lock traps quite a few pleasure craft. The dimensions of the lock are 55 by 7.50 meters, and the difference in height is 20 meters.

There are thus two locks that bridge the Albert Canal and the Zuidwillemsvaart.

People who sail through the lock with their pleasure yachts are always amazed. The beautiful colors of the flowers in the vicinity of the lock surprise many, they tell me. It is all the work of lock keeper Jos, who spends hours on it. It's his hobby, in his spare time.
