The priest's cottage was built in 1649 and was used as a parsonage for a time. Today, events and exhibitions (permanent exhibition about the former inner-German border) take place in the cottage's rooms. The café is open on the 1st and 2nd Sunday of the month from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Further information is available at herzogtum-lauenburg.de/poi/priesterkate-buechen.

Priestskate Cultural Center in Büchen – Dorf: Pastor’s jewelry box

The priest's cottage in Büchen-Dorf was built in 1649 as a pastorate. In the early modern period, the ducal state parliaments met here. The cultural center with café is idyllically located in the immediate vicinity of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal and directly opposite the medieval St. Mary's Church. Today, varied cultural events (e.g. concerts, cabaret, comedy, children's theater, lectures) and civil weddings regularly take place in the historic hall of the house. In the attic, a permanent exhibition provides information about the history of the Stecknitzfahrt ("wet salt road") and the former inner-German border. In the café's premises, visitors are presented with changing current and historical topics from the Büchen region.

The Priest's Kate is the starting point of two themed bike tours: the monument tour and the border tour.

On the 1st and 2nd Sunday of the month, there are delicious cakes in a great atmosphere. In good summer weather, you can enjoy the view of the Delvenauniederung on the terrace and the children are on the corresponding playground.
