The Ippokratou Square with its owl fountain and the many restaurants is an imposing square that you should definitely enter through the Thalassini Gate. From here, paths lead in all directions of the old town. There we ate a very good, award-winning ice cream, which is really recommendable :) (Enter through the gate mentioned, towards the fountain and then keep left)

Hiking

One can say that this small square, called Hippocrates or Ipokratous, is the center of medieval Rhodes. Physically it's not in the center, it's next to Marina Gate, overlooking the harbor, but it's the confluence of Socrates, Pythagoras and Aristotle streets, each of which leads to different neighborhoods of the walled city. In the center is a Turkish fountain and in one corner stands the Lonja of Merchants.
