The island of Rhodes, located in the south of the Aegean, is about 78 km long and at the widest point 35 km wide (about 1,400 sq km total area). It is the largest island in the Dodecanese and the fourth largest in Greece. Rhodes has about 115,000 inhabitants, of which more than half (60,000) live in Rhodes Town. A small sketch of the island with the main places of interest and sights of the island can be found under the heading "Sights and Villages" on the page "General Information". In the subsequent descriptions of the sights and excursions this plan may be helpful as an orientation. On the page also all villages are listed by name.rhodos-info.de/frames/rhodos.htm
