Inaugurated in August 1879 in the presence of King Leopold II, this beautiful building impresses with its size, with a length of 120 meters.
The 18-metre glass dome over the platforms was hit by bombings in 1940 and 1944 and was never rebuilt. The station building itself has been restored and is very nicely lit at night.
