After the Hallstadt fortifications were demolished at the end of the Peasant War, a wooden (Anna) chapel was built before the start of the Swedish War, for which 1580 editions are mentioned. A larger chapel was built around ten years later. During the Swedish War, the chapel was broken into by the Swedes and looted.

Hiking

The St. Anne Chapel in Hallstadt is a baroque sandstone chapel located east of the town center. It was built between 1703 and 1705 and houses three valuable baroque altars. The chapel was once an important place of pilgrimage, as Hallstadt became a center of St. Anne worship in the 16th century. Services and devotions are still held there today.
