The Offa's Dyke Path is one of Britain's most epic undertakings, as far as long-distance walking goes. It stretches for 177 miles (285 km), following the dyke that King Offa of Mercia ordered to be constructed in the 8th century to divide his Kingdom from its rivals in what is today Wales. It takes in the Brecon Beacons National Park and three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty: the Wye Valley, the Shropshire Hills and the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley.
This section of the Path leads up to Moel Famau, the highest point in the Clwydian Range and the county top of Flintshire.
