The former heavily fortified inner-German border ran here. Fortunately, it is history and you can explore the wonderful nature on the former border paths. The federal states of Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony collide.

Nowadays you can go cycling or hiking on the former border strip. I always enjoy traveling (mostly by bike) in the Aland lowlands. Here you have a wonderful, wide view and very good opportunities to observe lots of birds and bird species, from small songbirds to greylag geese, herons and cranes, to sea eagles.
