Call me crazy, but the castle made me think of the Washington Capitol, the view of the castle from the forecourt, its beautiful symmetry and more gives a similarly captivating feeling and you don't think twice about inconsistencies.
The castle is one of the absolute highlights of Fulda and should be indispensable on every hike. Only all the cars in the castle courtyard are ugly and typical for Fulda, where numerous buildings do not have a car ban and thus rob the visitor of some of the enjoyment.

The baroque Fulda city palace was built by Johann Dientzenhofer from 1706 to 1714 as the residence of the Fulda prince abbots and later the prince bishops. Before that there was an abbot's castle built in the early 14th century. After that, the castle was rebuilt and expanded at the beginning of the 17th century as a palace complex and in the last quarter of the century as a Renaissance palace. Today, parts of the city palace serve as the seat of the city administration. Many of the historic rooms can be visited and are almost in their original condition.
