This chapel was dedicated to Saint Paul. He was initially an opponent of the Christian movement and was not called to the apostleship by Jesus Christ during his lifetime like the other apostles, but was only converted later with the famous "Damascus experience" (see Acts of the Apostles, chapter 9).
His attribute, with which he is usually depicted in paintings or as a statue, is the sword with which he was executed. According to the Roman law of the time, such a sentence was a “privilege” (quick death and not associated with a long, agonizing agony like other types of execution) that the citizens of Rome were entitled to.
Peter (Peter) is also known together with Paul as the "Princes of the Apostles", their common memorial day in the calendar of saints is June 29th.

The Chapel of the Apostle Paul was built thanks to the promotion of Pedro de Navarra, then
Owner of the "Hacienda de Castro" estate, in the first decade of the 17th century on the fringes
of the "Camlno Real" in front of the Castro Cross on the Las Ramblas estates.

It replaced the old hermitage built by Francisco Ruiz in the gorge of the horses (“barranco de los
caballos") - hive also called ravine of Ruiz - built in the century before, and at one
landslide towards the end of that century.
