Vallorch is one of the Cimbrian villages on the Cansiglio plateau. It was founded around the mid-19th century by Vigilio and Celeste Azzalini from Val Bona, representatives of the local Cimbrian community. The place was ideal for the typical activity of the box makers (manufacturers of wooden boxes) as it abounded in good quality beech trees. It soon became one of the main residential areas of Cansiglio, counting around fifteen buildings and around 60 inhabitants.

It was destroyed by a fire set by the fleeing Germans at the end of the First World War and a second time following a Nazi-fascist roundup during the partisan resistance (September 1944), a fate that also befell the other villages of Le Rotte, Pian Osteria and Campon. It was then rebuilt at the end of the conflict. Towards the mid-20th century the village was largely abandoned as the residents had largely moved to Osigo and Fregona. The last resident, Franco Azzalini, left the village in 2018 to move to a retirement home in Fregona.

The huts, entirely made of wood, have maintained the typical characteristics of Northern Europe and are subject to the protection of Environmental Heritage.

When I passed by everything was closed, but the houses are nice and reading the history of the place on the signs was interesting.
