The majority of the exhibits come from the estate of the beekeeper friend and master carpenter Paul Haase from Friedersdorf near Pulsnitz. His daughter made the exhibits available to the museum on permanent loan.

The Bee Museum is located in an 18th-century half-timbered house. The museum also houses a small specialist library on beekeeping and bee health, comprising approximately 300 volumes and several hundred journals.
The Bee Museum's exhibition is divided into the sections on bee biology, beekeeping, bee products, and beekeeping equipment.
Outdoors of the Bee Museum, there is a bee garden and an educational apiary with a glass beehive. Various information panels on beekeeping in general and on native wild bee species in particular are also located here.
