The medieval provost church dates back to the 11th century, the inauguration of the first Belecker church is mentioned as early as 1087. The old church was demolished because it was in disrepair and replaced by today's baroque nave in 1749/50. The west tower, which also had the function of a defensive tower, was retained. The tower got its baroque hood after a lightning strike in 1682. The church has a precious interior, so the main altar with two side altars, an inlaid communion bench from Grafschaft, a Gothic Madonna (14th century) from the Odacker monastery near Hirschberg and a Roman crucifix (14th century) from the Kreuzkapelle.
