Largest oxbow lake of the Nidda (29,000 m²), idyllically situated in the Niedwald.
September 23, 2021
The oxbow lake, which was created as part of the Nidda regulation and through gravel mining, is about 600 meters long.
It is supplied with Nidda water via a pipeline from the headwaters of the Sossenheim weir.
The pipeline is usually open, only in the event of a flood is it closed with a valve.
The amount of water flowing from the Nidda into the oxbow lake is small.(Source: news.stadtentwaesserung-frankfurt.de)
