A mainly Gothic building (15th-16th century) surrounded by a beautiful churchyard wall and shady trees.

The ground plan unfolds a nave of three bays, a projecting transept and a polygonal choir in the northeast flanked by a sacristy. Heavy iron sandstone tower reinforced by heavy buttresses (1511-1514 according to archive texts), with adjoining semi-octagonal staircase turret in the southwest; front facade with axial portal (formerly dated 1559 on the castle) under a large flamboyant three-light window. Later spire.

Nave rebuilt in 1768 (according to archive texts) of brick in classicist style; bricked-up door with projecting keystone in the south facade; remains of the former side aisles on the transepts. Gothic transept; southern transept formerly provided with a portal crowned with a small, three-lobed niche; north and south gables built in the 17th century from brick with iron sandstone bacon layers.

Low choir with windows already provided with flamboyant tracery, between the corner buttresses that give rhythm to the sections. Brick sacristies on a later iron sandstone-clad base (in current condition from the 18th century).

Furniture. Various paintings and sculptures (17th and 18th century). Furniture in various styles from the 18th century; baroque baptismal font (17th century); Louis XVI rood screen from 1797.

The "Sint-Pieterskerk" was dedicated to Saint Peter (Pieter). Simon, nicknamed Petrus (rock), was a fisherman on Lake Genesareth when he - together with his brother Andreas - was called by Jesus Christ to be a "fisherman of men". According to the Catholic understanding, he is the highest apostle, and the two millennia long line of popes - currently Francis - are in his successor. On statues and paintings, Peter is almost always shown with two keys in his hand. This attribute refers to the Bible verse in Matthew: “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; what you will bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and what you will loosen on earth will be loosened in heaven ”(Chapter 16, verse 19).

Together with Paul, Peter is also known as the "princes of the apostles", their common feast day in the saints' calendar is on June 29th.
