Johannes Nepomuk or Johannes von Pomuk was a Bohemian priest and martyr. He was in 1729 by Pope Benedict XIII. canonized. The Jesuits made him their second patron of the order in 1732. Nepomuk is considered to be the bridge saint and patron of the confessional secret.

The new wooden bridge leads to the Rhine island. At the entrance to the wooden bridge there is a statue of St. Nepomuk, who greets the hiker. In Catholic areas you can often see this on or next to bridges, as he is considered a bridge saint.

We were on the island very early in the morning and the bird concert was a treat. It is unbelievably beautiful to wander first through the forest and then along the banks of the Rhine. At the end we were still at the wild boar enclosure.
