The castle park was mentioned as early as 1605 in a city council protocol as "Bangert" or "Baumgarten". Mapped in 17th century plans as a garden or fruit tree area, the area appears to have existed as a park-like area in the Renaissance style in the last quarter of the 18th century. The name Bangert, however, was retained.

The current appearance of the park goes back to the Puricelli family, who commissioned a redesign in the form of a landscape park with an artificially indented pond, botanical rarities such as gingko, catalpa and elephant tree. The iron candelabras and craters in the park also date from this period - products from the Puricelli ironworks.

You can hike to the Lohr Forest via the castle park.

Beautiful little park with lots to discover, e.g. some exotic plants, a beautifully designed lake and of course the narrow hiking trails up to Kauzenberg.
