"... The Schelmenheckenbrunnen fountain has a similar age as the farm to which it belonged: It was the first cattle farm in the Gaistal founded by the Cistercian monks of the Bad Herrenalb monastery. At that time, the cattle not only grazed on grassland, but more often in the middle of the forest.
As a result, the forests were very sparse and provided habitat for many animals and plants. For this reason, some forests are grazed again as part of nature conservation projects.
