Dobel - from no other place can the top viewpoint “Schweizererkopfhütte” be reached without too much climbing. If the visibility is good, there are breathtaking views from the Swiss head to the Vosges and sometimes even across the Zabern valley to Lorraine. To the north you can see the Speyer Imperial Cathedral and to the east you can see the Swabian Forest.
If you see the dense coniferous forests up here today, you can hardly imagine that the plateau between Kaltenbronn and Dobel was once almost unforested and for centuries large herds of cattle grazed on the bare areas of the mill. The mountain names still tell of it today.

The refuge is located north of the Swiss head on the highest slope of the Albtal at an altitude of 835 m above sea level.
Where the Swiss head hut is today was until 13 years ago dense forest vegetation without a view. The century-old Lothar, on the second day of Christmas in 1999, also blew away the trees in rows on this westward mountain slope. To commemorate the Jahrhundertorkan, the Swiss Head Hut was built in June 2001.

From here you have a beautiful view towards Baden-Baden and Karlsruhe to the Rhine valley.

The great view fits in perfectly with the hike in this part of the Black Forest - simply great.

Wonderful views and a good weather protection in wind and bad weather.

Wonderful viewpoint over the Gaistal and the Baden-Baden mountains to the Rhine plain.
When visibility is good, the Schweizerkopf offers breathtaking views of the Vosges and sometimes even across the Zaberner Senke to Lorraine. To the north you can see the Imperial Cathedral of Speyer and to the east you can see the Swabian Forest.

Hut in good shape, good to pause when the weather is not so good.

In September 2019 there was a large board, on the basis of which you can name the heights in the area properly, and there was also a "summit book" 😉

Nice little hut, also protected from the weather thanks to windows. Brilliant view.

If the weather is good, you have a magnificent view from here as far as Alsace and the Palatinate. But even with moderate visibility you have a good view of the meadows in the Gaistal and Bad Herrenalb. The spa clinic and the monastery church can be seen. Binoculars are fun here.
A picnic table, benches in front of and in the shelter, which is protected from rain and wind with Plexiglas windows. And don't be afraid of a thunderstorm. The hut has a lightning rod.
The path from the hut down the mountain is very overgrown. If you are looking for an alternative to the gravel path, you can take the path a little north of here.

Beautiful little hut on an exposed rock overlooking the valley.
