Schweizerkopfhütte Viewpoint

A magnificent vantage point overlooking the Gaistal Valley and the Baden-Baden Mountains all the way to the Rhine plain. From the Schweizerkopf, on a clear day, breathtaking views of the Vosges Mountains and sometimes even across the Saverne Depression to Lorraine are offered. To the north, the view extends to the Imperial Cathedral of Speyer, and to the east, the Swabian Forest can be seen.

From here you have a beautiful view towards Baden-Baden and Karlsruhe to the Rhine valley.

Dobel – from nowhere else can the top viewing point, the "Schweizerkopfhütte," be reached without a steep climb. On a clear day, the Schweizerkopf offers breathtaking views of the Vosges Mountains and sometimes even across the Saverne Depression to Lorraine. To the north, the view extends to the Imperial Cathedral of Speyer, and to the east, the Swabian Forest can be seen.To see the dense coniferous forests up here today, it's hard to imagine that the plateau between Kaltenbronn and Dobel was once almost devoid of forests, and that for centuries large herds of cattle grazed the bare Grinden plains. The mountain names still bear witness to this.
