From all sides you have a beautiful view of the church tower of Langdorp... Saint Peter has lived here on the banks of the Demer for eight centuries...

Parish church of the village of Langdorp from the 14th century with major renovations in the second half of the 18th century. The church is located between the Demer and the Langdorpsesteenweg. It is generally assumed that the choir and west tower date from the 14th century. Although no conclusive historical evidence has yet been provided, it may perhaps be assumed that the first parish church was located more south-west, on the other side of the Demer, behind the Schoonhoven castle, on the site of the St. Lambertus Church of Weerde, which was demolished around 1682. On a figurative map by Pierre de Bersacques (1596-1597), the church of Langdorp is depicted as a three-aisled volume built entirely in iron sandstone with lower side aisles, a small low transept, a flat closed choir and a square west tower. The chancel shows narrow lancet windows, slender buttresses and an oculus on the east side. The strikingly small nave windows placed under the eaves suggest a Romanesque origin. The cemetery is surrounded by a polygonal wall, apparently provided with embrasures, also made of iron sandstone.
