In the period from 1980 to 1990, these biotopes were created by the then district forester Hubert Gebhard from Rothenbuch. For his exemplary conservation work, he was honored with the Karl Gayer Medal of the Federal Nature Conservation in Bavaria (BN). Today, crayfish, pond mussels, dragonfly, beetle larvae, newts, grass snakes, frogs, toads and salamanders live in the small pools.
