Dresden's first bicycle street has now been created along the Kleinzschachwitz bank. Between the Meußlitzer Straße intersection and the Kleinzschachwitz Elbe ferry, cyclists now have priority and determine the speed for 1.2 km.

Edit October 2021: main road signs have now been put up. The bicycle street is now almost complete.

    Importance of bicycle streets:

All road users, regardless of the means of transport, must adhere to the maximum speed of 30 km/h. Cyclists on bicycle streets generally determine the speed and should be specially protected. They are generally allowed to ride next to each other. However, children under the age of eight must also ride on the footpath here, if there is one. They are allowed to use it until they are ten years old. Motor vehicle drivers must exercise particular consideration on bicycle streets and adjust their speed to bicycle traffic. An additional sign opens a bicycle street to motor vehicles. This ensures that every driver can reach their property.

Dresden is currently planning further bicycle streets in the secondary road network. One of them is the East cycle priority route between Straßburger Platz and the Tolkewitz school campus. Work on this approximately five-kilometer-long route has already begun. The section between Fetscherstraße and Altenberger Straße is expected to be open to traffic by the end of summer 2022.

Here cyclists have priority and motorists and pedestrians are only tolerated :)
