Coming from the direction of Heumannhütte, the Schwarze Grund widens here and offers a view of the Wiesengrund and the heights of the Wildfeldhöhe.

There in the valley of the Breitenbach, where the route from Lettgenbrunn to Oberndorf and the route to Pfaffenhausen to Orb cross, the following story happened. When the winters were even harder, the game was very aggressive, so it occasionally attacked people. A Pfaffenhausen man was on his way to Orb in deep snow at the height of winter. In the vicinity of the forest, a strong fourteen-tailed deer attacked him, so that the man was badly wounded. He only had a stick for defense. The massive animal attacked him again and again until he fell unconscious. Only then did the mighty beast let go of him. Night fell, but the wounded man could no longer get up; so the bitter frost came and took him home from this life.
The man lay dead in the snow, as if he were sleeping peacefully and quietly. The villagers brought him home to bury him in the Oberdorf cemetery.
For the sake of his peace of mind, they set up the heavy wayside shrine at the edge of the road where they found him, so that everyone who passes by may say a prayer! (Time around 1730) Source: jossgrund-Ehrenamt.de
