The "Alter Bahndamm" is also something for railway lovers. Some old signals and warning signs are still in their original locations. Mostly there are still explanations about the meaning of the warning signs, but unfortunately some have been removed. This gives the trail something special.
The line was closed in 1976.

The decision to build the Gottleuba Valley Railway marked the beginning of a phase in which the Royal Saxon State Railways supplemented the main network based on a foreign model with a network of secondary railways in order to provide previously remote cities and regions with an economically necessary route connection.
After a construction period of over a year, the test drive took place on July 15, 1880, during which no defects were found. The line was officially opened on July 19, 1880.
Although the Gottleuba Valley Railway was primarily designed for freight transport, passenger transport also became important.
Several derailments ultimately led to the cessation of passenger traffic on August 24, 1970. The entire route remained in operation for freight traffic until April 1, 1976. The hard cardboard factory connection in Langenhennersdorf was then served until 1977, when the Pirna-Neundorf–Gottleuba section was dismantled.
