This building is one of the oldest Romanesque churches in Belgium. Its dedication stone, which dates back to the year 1050, bears witness to its antiquity. The stained glass windows made by Jean-Michel Folon are also noteworthy.

Saint Stephen (Saint Etienne), to whom this church is dedicated, is one of the first seven deacons of the original Jerusalem community and is also the first martyr (martyr) of early Christianity. The church commemorates him on the second day of Christmas, December 26th.
