In 955 King Otto defeated a huge Hungarian army on the Lechfeld near Augsburg with the Germanic tribes of Saxony, Swabia, Bavaria, Franconia, Lorraine and Bohemia. This victory is the beginning of German history. King Otto was supported by the Holy Bishop Ulrich, who held the city of Augsburg against the siege of the Hungarians.
