The Messkapelle Gößl is the only church in Styria that is not owned by the diocese. It belongs to 14 Gößler farming families, who applied for the building of their own church as early as 1792, since the way to the church in Bad Aussee was very difficult. After almost 40 years of discussion, this church was then built on its own property with a contribution from Archduke Johann.
