The owl is a small hill above the Munketal and can be reached from there or via the Rautal. There are a few benches here that offer a beautiful view over Jena North and possibly also East and the Munketal - the further you are towards Windknolle, the better the view.
It is usually nice and quiet here, because there is usually not that much going on.

Pretty new bank right on the trail (red mark) and offers a beautiful view over the Munketal

The Munketal is an insider - different from the town church, market square, etc., and much more exciting! In the upper parts there are remains of old vineyard buildings and cellars on the slope, in the middle old walls and slopes are hidden. On the southern side of the slope there are several shooting ranges from the Wehrmacht era and an old SA restaurant from the Nazi era as a garden shed. There are many hidden quarries in the higher slopes, and entry into Jena can be made via the North Cemetery.
Some old deposits still exist at the upper end of the valley, and there are also heaps in which some ordnance remains (projectile bases, casings, etc.) lie. That's always being kept secret or downplayed in all nature marketing - the rubbish and the legacy of previous uses.
