Hiking Highlight (Segment)
The Kuhsee is an artificially created lake in the Augsburg-Hochzoll district and a very popular destination for numerous sports and leisure activities near the Siebentischwald. Whether swimming, cycling, jogging, picnicking or just switching off and clearing your head ... everyone gets their money's worth here.
There is a restaurant, kiosks, various playgrounds, but also several table tennis tables and an outdoor chess as well as barbecue areas and two large, free parking spaces. Boat rental at the restaurant in summer.
Very beautiful bathing lake with clean water, water watch station and a separate, paddling area for smaller children. Diving is not allowed on this lake. And since there is a lot going on in summer, it is also worth getting up early and enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and tranquility.
The lake also invites you to go for a walk. All around, over the high drain to the ice channel - the first artificial white water route in Germany. Here you can watch the canoeists very well during their training sessions. In winter also nice for ice skating or curling.
The Kuhsee and the eastern bank of the Lech have been under landscape protection since 1951.

I doubt whether the Kuhsee is now a highlight, but what is very surprising is that such a great lake can be found in the middle of a big city like Augsburg. Furthermore, the Lech flows next door with a dam on which you can cross the Lech. At the other end, the 1974 Olympic Games were reportedly held in rafting. At the Lech there is a snack bar with a great beer garden and at the lake a restaurant with a lake view. All in all, you should stop by on a nice day and take the time to walk around the lake and enjoy the lake view with a cozy drink.

Must correct Marcus. Not supposedly 1974 Olympic course in rafting, but official venue for white water slalom in the context of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.
The Kuhsee is particularly beautiful in winter when it freezes over. Then there is really something going on on the lake.
Ideal for a walk with children as there are numerous playgrounds.
