The Bonatti refuge is located at 2,025 m above sea level, at the entrance to the Malatrà valley. It is nestled at the foot of the Grandes Jorasses, facing the magnificent Fréboudze glacier. It overlooks a panorama that embraces the Mont Blanc chain, from Col de la Seigne to Col Ferret. Born from the friendship between Pierre Sicouri, Sergio Favre and Flavio Guichardaz, it was named after the mountaineer and explorer Walter Bonatti. Work on its construction began in July 1996 and it was inaugurated two years later. Open in both summer and winter, it can be reached from Val Ferret in just over an hour's walk, after crossing larch woods and alpine pastures.

Named after the Italian mountaineer Walter Bonatti (1930-2011), this modern refuge was opened in 1998. It is located at the foot of the Grandes Jorasses. This cozy hideaway is one of the best places to eat or spend the night.
