Location: Storkow (Mark), Lakeland Oder-Spree, Brandenburg, Germany
The church that originally stood here was built by Cistercian monks in the Romanesque style at the end of the 12th century. After it was destroyed by a fire in 1570, it was rebuilt as a brick church in the Gothic pointed arch style; the fieldstone base of the original church was preserved.
In 1864, as part of a comprehensive restoration, the church received a stepped gable, which can still be seen on old postcards. During the reconstruction after the Second World War, however, the stepped gable was not restored. The tower has also been shortened since then.
