At the instigation of Count Gustav Adolf von Gotter, who owned the Molsdorf Castle, a natural stone arch bridge was built from 1751 to 1752 at the site of a ford through the Apfelstädt. At the bridge structure, the road from Gotha to Erfurt met the road from Arnstadt via Molsdorf (Wikipedia).
