The site got its name from the Swedish occupation in 1631 to 1650. Today there is a freely accessible cherry tree plantation with many different varieties on the large meadow. Apple and walnut trees and blackberries also grow here. Picking is allowed for personal use. This idyllic place is perfect for picnics.

Walking from the Schwedenschanze over the Röderweg into the city is particularly worthwhile, because you have a great view of Erfurt and on a sunny afternoon you can see the two naves, Dom and Severi, with their mighty roofs lit from the west.
