Tréguier is located at the end of an estuary in Côtes-d'Armor. The cathedral, the narrow streets and the half-timbered houses of the former episcopal city, which stretches along the river Jaudy in terraces, form a beautiful ensemble, a stone's throw from a particularly beautiful coast, which lures with a rich cultural heritage.

Memoria and documents relating to Ernest Renan (1823-1892) are kept in this 16th-century half-timbered house. The room where the writer was born is on display, as are 2 replicas of his study and of his library at the Collège de France and the two rooms where he liked to work as a child. After graduating from seminary, 22-year-old Renan faced a serious crisis of faith. His work "Histoire des origines du Christianisme" (1863-1882) caused quite a stir in 19th century Europe because of the rationalistic approach of Jesus.
