A time travel takes you in the Randauer open-air museum up to 7,500 years back to the beginning Neolithic (Neolithic).
The more than two-hectare stone age village in Randau is located on the Elbe Cycle Route Hamburg-Dresden and the adventure trail Elbaue. It can be found right between Magdeburg and Schönebeck in the picturesque Kreuzhorst region.

Experience the redesign of a 4.500-year-old Neolithic post house excavated in Randau in the Freilichtmuseum Randau. Such a post house is as old as the ancient Egyptian pyramid of Cheops or the megalithic circles of Stonehenge. The huge dimensions of the longhouse are (LxWxH) 21.3 x 5.5 x 5.6 m.
In the windowless clay building with a thatched roof, a clan of about 30 people lived together in a confined space with cattle, sheep, goats and pigs.
Even older is a longhouse from the Linienbandkultur, whose replica can be visited in the museum village Randau. Such houses were built 3,000 years before the Egyptian pyramids!

The Stone Age settlement Randau consists of houses, adjoining houses and the fortification system that surrounds the Stone Age village. The construction was largely limited to the historical techniques. The huge dimensions of the Stone Age settlement in Randau still impress today.
