In the same square as Milan's La Scala theatre, there is this impressive monument in memory of the Italian genius Leonardo Da Vinci, who lent his wisdom during the construction of the city's cathedral. Leonardo also lived in the city for many years of his life and, as stated on the foot of the statue, it was made on "September 4, 1872."

Visitors to Milan will find an imposing monument here, showing Leonardo da VINCI (1452 to 1519) and four of his students. He was known throughout his life for his extremely diverse fields of interest and is considered one of the greatest polymaths of that epoch, who was involved in the various arts (especially painting, sculpture and architecture) as well as with scientific research (e.g. anatomy).
