To the west side of the dam (Deutzener height) at the Bornaer reservoir leads a flood ditch, which dissipates excess water into the Pleiße. At water level, some small bridges lead over this ditch. By crossing this one reaches the main path, but also a narrow path up to the dam, thus also on the embankment.
