Masca is in the northwest of Tenerife and here you can find deep ravines and incredible cliffs. Legend has it that pirates from the Canary Islands hid here thanks to the dense vegetation.

This section of ascent is possibly one of the steepest on the island, with an average gradient of 15% but with many flat areas, so the ramps are even stronger.

Road cycling

Great road regardless whether from north to south or vice versa. Very steep however when riding it from Masca to Santiago de Teide. Masca being one of the prime tourist attractions it is highly recommended to visit it early in the morning or late afternoon/early evening if at all possible.
